We run one-day training courses and bespoke sessions for practitioners across the public, private and
voluntary sector to help them develop their funding skills.

Knowing how to get the best use out of GRANTfinder can have a very positive and real impact on the number and relevance
of the search results identified. Whether it be learning how to model a project or employ Boolean search techniques to run

'Get Grant Ready: A Beginner's Guide to Funding Applications' and have an online training programme sent to your
computer for a three week period.
- Bid writing workshop
This training course will provide delegates with practical bid writing techniques, enabling them to produce
focused proposals, increase their success rates and win new resources for their organisation.
- Effective research proposal training courses
This training course will provide early and mid-career academic staff with the skills to write more effective
research proposals for Research Council and Technology Strategy Board programmes.
- An introduction to European funding
"An introduction to European funding" is an ideal initiation for anyone who is new to the workings
of the EC and who is considering applying for the first time for funding direct from Europe.
- Applying for and managing European funding
Idox Information Solutions runs a number of courses designed for people who are applying for funding or
managing European projects.
- Effective tender writing
Effective tender writing is ideal for staff in voluntary and public sector organisations who wish to improve
the skills and confidence they need in responding to first-stage contracting opportunities.

Sector Specific Courses
The day is very intensive, and alternates between in-depth presentations and
group activities on case studies. Each trainee is provided with their own laptop.
These intimate courses provide an opportunity for attendees to meet other people
who work in the funding environment and to share best practice.

Inhouse Training Courses
This option is most suitable when you have a group of colleagues who wish to improve their searching skills on GRANTfinder.
A member of the Training team will come down to your offices for the day. Depending on how many people require training, you then have the choice of organising:
- Two introductory GRANTfinder training course - one in the morning and one in the afternoon ΤΗτ with a total of 6 delegates in each course. This is suitable when you have a larger number of people who require training.
- One intensive one-day GRANTfinder training course ΤΗτ comprising a session in the morning and a second session in the afternoon, this course is suitable when you have a more focused group of up to 6 people who require more in-depth training on getting the best out of GRANTfinder.
Each session lasts up to 2 hours.

Technical requirements
A PC connected to the Internet and linked to a projector and enough PCs connected to the Internet
for each attendee to have hands-on use.

GRANTfinder training: typical programme outline
The GRANTfinder training course combines a presentational angle and intensive
hands-on work. It is designed to ensure that you become proficient with every aspect of the database
and will change your approach to future searches.
The typical format of a one-day course is as follows:
Introduction to the course
Identifying Funding for Your Projects - Covering the principles of the GRANTfinder Project Search including how to: choose the most relevant project activities; set up a location group unique to your area; edit search results; and produce a final report of funding opportunities.
Individual work on case studies
